Oximetry @ Home

Oximetry @ Home service aims to enable health professionals to safely & remotely monitor patients with confirmed COVID-19 (including care homes). Through the use of a pulse oximeter, a small non-invasive device which clips on a finger, patients & carers can monitor and report their oxygen levels to enable early warning of deterioration and rapid intervention and treatment.

This is important as COVID-19 infection can result in low oxygen levels, without the normal symptoms of shortness of breath or coughing to such a degree those patients can suffer acute respiratory distress and organ failure. This is known as ‘silent hypoxia’.

The aim is to ensure that patients have the security of knowing they are being monitored whilst at home, and to pick up those, particularly those with silent hypoxia, who would benefit from early assessment and treatment in hospital.
